Our Story

How it all started...

The Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene had its beginning in a tent meeting less than a quarter mile from the present building, in the year 1925. The Rev. C.B. Cox, a 19 year old Evangelist, did the preaching and Mrs. Rife was the Song Evangelist.  It was in this meeting that Sister Cora Long and Sister Annie Long were converted.   After several tent meetings, others were saved, and plans were started to build the previous Tabernacle.  a "Prayer Band" was organized and met twice each week in local homes in the area.  The Tabernacle was build in 1928.  There were various ministers used as  supply preachers.  Hard winters and heavy snows could not stop this group of Christians.
In 1936, Evangelists Rev. and Mrs. L.B. Smith, along with Rev. Raymond Darbie, the District Superintendent of the North Carolina and Virginia District, organized the Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene.
The original Charter Members were:  Mr. Daise Hussey, Mrs. Lucy Hussey, Mr. & Mrs. R.P. Hussey, Mr. Shirley Hussey, Mr. Stanley Hussey, Mrs. Annie Long, Mrs. Cora Long and George Smiley.
The church continued to grow and a vision for a new church began.  With a lot of hard work and donated labor, the church was built.  The present Church was dedicated in 1966.  In 1978 the CLC (Christian Life Center) was added.
God has blessed our church with continued growth and in 1997 the new church addition was completed.  The additions include: enlarging the sanctuary, bathroom, offices, and nursery.  At this same time, we also connected the church and the CLC building with a breezeway.  God is continuing to bless our church.

Love and Value Others:

John 13:34 says:  "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. "
